Gelest Inc. today introduced Vertasil® LIMONENYLTRISILOXANE (INCI: Methylcyclohexenyl Isopropyl Trisiloxane), a multifunctional cosmetics ingredient that improves solubility over cyclomethicones such as cyclopentasiloxane. The company presented the benefits and properties of Vertasil TM-L01 at the Society of Cosmetic Chemists (SCC) 69th Annual Scientific Meeting and Technology Showcase in New York.

Gelest, Inc., today introduced new BIOSAFE® silicon-based antimicrobials that protect formulated coatings and compounded polymers for manufactured goods. U.S. Environmental Protection Agency-registered, the No-VOC antimicrobials prevent deterioration and discoloration caused by fungi, prevent algae growth and inhibit the growth of odor-causing bacteria. Unveiled at the American Coatings Show 2014 (April 8-11, Atlanta, Georgia, USA), the BIOSAFE materials are colorless, odorless, positively charged polymers that molecularly bond in an environmentally friendly manner to, and are ideal for, bulk surfaces and fabrics that are susceptible to microbial contamination.

Gelest also named Kelly Chemical Corp. exclusive distributor for commercial products and non-exclusive distributor for research products in China. Kelly Chemical Corp. is responsible for selling the complete line of Gelest silane, silicone and metal-organic products, including fillers, pigments and performance products, into the specialty coatings markets.
