    xPDMS is a flexible, translucent molding and encapsulation PDMS with a significantly higher elongation than conventional silicones. xPDMS also has a greater amount of self-sealing allowing for mechanical penetration of cannula and optical fibers as well as electroactive interconnects.

    The new materials reported here are specifically polysiloxanes, derived from high molecular weight uncross-linked polymeric liquids that when formed into nanocomposites demonstrate exceptional elongations (>5000%).
